HARRIS IS COMING TO BAPTISE HICHILEMA TO PROTECT US INTERESTS, CHARGES KABIMBA

By Staff Reporter

United States of America (USA) Vice-President Kamala Harris is coming to baptise President Hakainde Hichilema to protect US national interests, says opposition Economic Front (EF) leader Wynter Kabimba.

And Kabimba said he does not support any planned protest by opposition members of parliament during Kamala’s visit, as he feels that will be inconsequential.

Speaking with Daily Revelation, Kabimba said President Hichilema was a product of the capitalist system bent of protecting US security interests, a coded term they use to describe US national interests

“He has now come to be baptised in protecting the US national security interests, meaning US interests … Outside, he’s being projected as a torch bearer of what third world leader should be when a lot of what he’s doing is against his people,” Kabimba said. “(Hichilema and Harris meeting) is like members of the same family meeting.”

He said if he were meeting Harris he would tell her that Zambia should be allowed to develop democracy at its own pace, while promoting its own cultural values.

Kabimba said for instance, homosexuality was criminalised in western countries in the 1930s, something they also exported to their own colonies, saying just the fact that they have now embraced homosexual values does not mean that Zambia should do the same.

He also said he would tell Harris that the proxy wars and enemity they jas with countries like Russia, China and others were not automatically Zambia’s wars as the country had its own sovereign right to determine its destiny.

Kabimba said with a population of over one billion people, Africa was the only continent without a seat on the security council, saying he would tell Harris to her face that her government should stop impeding reforms in the United Nations against the continent having a security council seat.

He further said that he would tell Harris that there were several development models countries should follow, like China’s, but unlike western countries, China has not tried to foist or impose its will on the others.

But Kabimba said he opposed the idea by opposition members of parliament to protest during Harris’ visit, urging that it was always important that before one takes up a position they must evaluate the deliverables of that position and what they wanted to achieve.

He said the conference Harris was attending was not between herself and President Hichilema but a consternation with other countries, therefore it was not wise to pick up quarrels with the other democracy co-host countries.

“So I would not support a boycott because after all I know it will be inconsequential,” said Kabimba, saying MPs should have instead requested to be squeezed in Harris’ programme like having a question and answer session to air their grievances.

People forget that the US fought for independence against Britain.
The US never colonised another country.
The US has never ruled Zambia.
