‎Central province permanent secretary Milner Mwanakampwe has announced that Kapiri Mposhi is set to become a center of excellence in sporting activities, with plans underway to construct a modern airport and other infrastructure.

‎Speaking at the national union of aviation and allied workers (NUAAW) 3rd quadranial meeting in Kabwe, Mwanakampwe stated that all necessary preparations have been completed, including the identification of 11,000 hectares of land and the conclusion of an economic social survey.

‎”We have designed everything and what is remaining now is to start the works, because the parcels of land 11000 hectares have already been identified and the economic social survey has already been conclusively concluded,” he said.

‎And speaking in a separate interview, Kapiri Mposhi town council secretary Calins Ndillema said Kapiri Mposhi is expected to undergo significant transformation in two years time with plans underway to upgrade the town into a thriving city.

‎Ndillema told Daily Revelation in Kapiri Mposhi that the local authority, Ministry of Infrastructure and Central Province administration have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to pave the way for the upgrade.

‎He said the MOU would clearly define roles for all stakeholders involved in the process, ensuring a smooth and efficient implementation of the plan.

‎”In two years’ time, we expect to see something meaningful come out of this, and Kapiri Mposhi will be on its way to becoming a city. The local authority will identify land for development, while the provincial administration will supervise the council, and the Ministry of Infrastructure will provide direction on infrastructure development,” Ndillema explained.

‎Ndillema further disclosed that the plan includes the construction of a modern stadium, cargo airport, economic zone, and hotels.

‎”This is an exciting time for Kapiri Mposhi, and we are committed to working together to make this vision a reality,” said Ndillema.
