PF presidential aspirant Chishimba Kambwili says he has raised the K200,000 nomination fee required for the PF presidency, but fears that the long campaign will destroy the party.
And Kambwili has urged police to first release their investigations into the Mary Chirwa videos before announcing any outcome in their investigations against the porn videos of Vubwi member of parliament Ackleo Banda.
Speaking with Daily Revelation, Kambwili said he has the money available with him for the nominations.
“Are you sure the deadline day would come without me preparing, if it’s a requirement? Yes, I have prepared,” Kambwili said. “I have prepared everything but my views over this nomination, there is no way you can have nominations five months before the elections. It will destroy the party. It will destroy the party because people will be campaigning for five months.”
He said even in a national election, nominations were only filed in two months before the elections, as opposed to what was being done in PF, warning that people will not focus on building the party but on campaigning.
“And there will be divisions because there are so many people who have shown interest. So you are better off doing the nominations a month before, or even 24 hours before the elections, but not five months. There is never been such a history in this country where nominations are filed five months before,” Kambwili said. “So I have advised that if possible they postponed these and concentrate on building the party, do the nominations either in January or February.”
And Kambwili described as unfortunate the porn videos involving PF MP Banda, saying people must be careful not to engage in vices that are likely to end up in wrong hands.
“It’s difficult to blame him because I don’t think he meant to make a video to send viral. But I think in my view he was being blackmailed. But what he was doing was unfortunate and it should not be supported. People must avoid doing such things,” Kambwili said, but on the investigations into the Chirwa videos which surfaced months ago, Kambwili said: “Let them investigate the first one and give us the results before they investigate the second one anyway. They must first tell us the first one because the first one is almost, how many months now? Chino ichalo that’s why you can laugh. What is happening in this country, it’s only God. He is telling you that here you have failed, we shall see what you will do next. It’s God exposing people’s hypocrisy. But we will see, we wish them good luck in the investigations.”
