The looting from these “young looters” in the UPND has been sanctioned by President Hakainde Hichilema himself, says FDD leader Edith Nawakwi.
Speaking with Daily Revelation over the proliferation of outside court settlements where UPND cadres and officials are being rewarded handsomely for having suffered injustices, Nawakwi said every Zambian that participated in the Independence struggle and the fight to restore multipartism back in the country, like former vice-president Brigadier General Godfrey Miyanda, should demand hefty outside court settlement rewards.
She demanded that they must do so since this is the culture the UPND administration has introduced in the nation.
“The behavior of Hakainde and his followers is no different from that of the wicked sons of Eli, the looters. He’s not even quite to the stature of Eli the priest but he watches the looting fully sanctioned by him,” Nawakwi said. “The looting, the plunder is because of the deep corruption of their leader. So even his followers have to loot. Have you ever heard that freedom fighters who slept in trenches have been compensated?”
She said apart from not agreeing with the payments, she questioned the fact that they were happening at a time when the country was going through the harshest period, as if the same were being done to reward party members during this difficult time to the exclusion of other Zambians.
“These young looters have the audacity to deep their fingers in the coffers. Even if you were entitled, is this the time that every UPND party cadre can line up to plunder the treasury?” Nawakwi asked, alleging that apart from this there was another sinister programme currently ongoing where known officials were given contracts on the manufacture of desks which they were subcontracting to the others.
“His (President Hichilema) days will be miserable. His end will be miserable. I have seen another advert that William Banda is going to queue up too. He came to plunder. The Attorney General approves and the Solicitor General signs the cheque at the expense of a child dying from ZNS bullets over nshima.”
She said the country was weeping right now.
“And when God speaks, Hakainde will have no answer. He will be smitten in the chair like Herod,” Nawakwi said.
She accused President Hichilema of having gone on rampage arresting opposition leaders, saying the same was because of excessive insecurity where “dictators” do crazy things.
She said Zambians were now being humiliated and killed over nshima.
“You can also talk about the mayhem at Parliament. It’s because of Herod’s insecurity. I did not expect Nelly Mutti to behave out of tune of her calling as a lawyer. But an incompetent leader does not develop a team around him but develops worshippers,” Nawakwi said. “You come to the inescapable conclusion that in his past life this our man was a Herod and we are now living in Herod’s time. He wants all of us to worship him like Herod’s followers. We don’t want to be smitten and die. Let him do so alone. Hatred, anger, insecurity and incompetence will be the legacy of Hakainde Hichilema.”
She demanded that since this was the culture the UPND administration has introduced, all the relatives to late freedom fighters must demand compensation from the state, including Cuthbert Ng’uni, Dean Mung’omba and many others.
