Airtel subscribers were in the early hours of Sunday treated to network failure, which made it difficult to access services.
The services that were inaccessible were Mobile money, network calls and internet.
But Airtel in a statement issued by the company’s corporate communication office, apologized to the subscribers, for the system failure.
“Airtel Networks Zambia plc would like to inform its esteemed customers that there is currently a system failure in all our subscription applications which includes Airtel Money. Our engineers are working tirelessly to correct the situation. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused and we will provide update immediately all applications are back to working order.” Airtel stated.
But citizens took their frustrations on Airtel’s Facebook page.
One of the users by the name Magnate wrote, “The engineers at Airtel have been working tirelessly without a solution for over 12 years now. This is what happens when you hire ba grade 2 as engineers.”
Haggins Siagwinta wrote,” Airtel Zambia should be disbanded. I don’t know why government is falling to deal with them.”
Masuzyo Theu wrote, “just close the whole company.”
Malyana A Nyundu wrote, “Guys be serious!”
Simon Mulenga Mwila wrote, “Hope my money is safe uko!”
Other are Isaac Mtonga who wrote, “work on it fast, fast you want us to wash dishes Kuma restaurant ya banene kuno.”
Amon bashi Niza Silomba wrote,” you have failed.
And losing independent Munali member of Parliament, Thomas Sipalo aka Difikoti also took to his Facebook page to vent his frustration.
Sipalo threatened to sue Airtel for causing him embarrassment and trauma.
“Am going to sue airtel for embarrassment and trauma I ve suffered for failure to pay after eating and drinking using their airtel money service,” stated Sipalo
