Dr Mbita Chitala says Zambia’s aspirations to defeat poverty and underdevelopment will always remain still-born until Zambians are empowered to run the economy.
In a statement to Daily Revelation media, Dr Chitala stated that Dr Kaunda tried it but “we in the MMD destroyed it by some unreasonable and chaotic privatisation forced on us by the Bretton Woods Institution (IMF and World Bank) and their masters.
“My view on creating indigenous national capital to anchor an independent and sustainable development for Zambia is in agreement with what all patriots in Zambia such as the submission by our former Governor of the Bank of Zambia Dr Caleb Fundanga who said the same the other other day,” stated Dr Chitala. “Our national question to start accumulating investable surpluses for expanded reproduction so that we can defeat poverty, underdevelopment and inequality will always be a still born ideal until we empower our own Zambians to be the leaders of the commanding heights of our economy. This is what has happened in other economies that resolved this problem. In fact, this is what President Kaunda tried to do but we in the MMD destroyed by some unreasonable and chaotic privatization forced on us by the Bretton Woods Institutions and their masters
