PF HAS ONLY RAISED K10,000 OUT OF K5 MILLION FOR CONFERENCE, CLAIMS KAUNDA

PF has only managed to raise K10,000 of the required K5 million requested from the general membership for the holding of the general conference, claims Kelvin Kaunda.

Kaunda described the current PF leadership as lacking both in direction and in the understanding of the term “rebranding.”

“There’s nothing left in the PF. The current PF leadership lacks political direction, they have no focused plan for the institution,” charged Kaunda.

He said the PF will not bounce back to power “even if they undergo what they are calling rebranding.”

“Do you even know their agenda of bouncing back? First of all, the top leadership does not understand the term “rebranding.” There is no rebranding in the PF. According to the Oxford Dictionary, rebranding means “changing the identity or changing the name.” Are they changing from PF to something else? They don’t know what they are talking about,” Kaunda said to Daily Revelation. “The PF has not rebranded. Today they are struggling to raise money for the holding of the general conference. As we speak, they have less than K10,000 in their coffers for the conference. And I know they will soon announce the postponment of the general conference. On Saturday the party leadership will postpone the conference. And the general membership of the PF is on the move (about to resign). There are no possibilities of the PF bouncing back to power. They have no chances.”

Kaunda who was the elected PF Lusaka Province vice-youth chairman in the dissolved committee only to later be appointed provincial youth leader, a position he resigned from only recently, said he decided to resign from the PF to join the Socialist Party because of lack of political direction in the former ruling party, which he said has no focused plan for the institution.

He said he opted to join the Socialist Party because it has focused leadership with a progressive party manifesto. Kaunda was joined from the PF to SC by other PF members of district officials including Lusaka district chairlady Imbua.

“To start with, I resigned from the PF a long time ago and not today. I resigned from the PF because I was not happy with the activities within the party. If you remember when I started championing the issue of the general conference last year, I was called names; I was called a rebel. The leadership in the PF has wilfully neglected the interest of the political party to the detriment of the general membership,” Kaunda said. “Last year, out of their own volition, they told the general membership that we are going for a general conference. I even went an extra mile and offered K2 million just to kickstart preparations for the general conference, but they rejected that money. And three weeks before the conference that is when the party leadership is reaching out to the general membership for donations. And you call that leadership? They have neglected an institution that benefited them big positions, which positions made them become wealth and wealth while the general membership is struggling in abject poverty.”

Asked if he has undergone some Socialist training before joining the Dr Fred M’membe led political party, Kaunda explained that he hasn’t done so yet; but was more than willing to undergo such a training.

He pointed out that a political organisation that invests in capacity building is a progressive organisation.

“No. Not yet. That is the party programme for the Socialist Party and we are just members. But if such an opportunity is given to us, we can not shy away from undergoing such a training. In any case, a political organisation that invests in capacity building is a progressive institution because that will better the general membership’s understanding of issues,” said Kaunda. “The better the party general membership get to understand issues, the better they will serve the people.”
