MY BEST GOAL YET TO COME – PATSON

PATSON Daka says his best Chipolopolo goal is yet to come despite netting his debut AFCON goal this week at the ongoing tournament in Ivory Coast.

The Leicester City striker scored a late second half goal to see 10-man Chipolopolo rally from one-down at halftime to finish 1-1 with Tanzania in their penultimate Group F match to keep their AFCON hopes alive heading into today’s final preliminary stage match against Morocco in San Pedro.

Daka said in an interview that it was a dream come true for him to score at the AFCON in his debut tournament appearance.

“The goal is not really the best one because the biggest one is yet to come,” Daka said.

“I can’t say I would be the saviour and like I said earlier, I just try by all means to help the team in any way possible.”

Daka has an opportunity to score his second tonight against Morocco whom he is familiar with after beating them 3-2 in a friendly away in Marrakesh on June 16, 2019 but was not on target.

Tonight’s must-win game could define Zambia’s destiny at the AFCON  in their quest to qualify for the last 16 in their first tournament appearance after missing the last three editions since 2015.

Chipolopolo are third in Group F with 2 points, tied with second placed  DR Congo and another two points behind leaders Morocco as they chase one of the best four third place slots to qualify for the last 16.

Tanzania are bottom on 1 point.

“I hope that we can get a positive result. Quite alright people might write us off. We will make sure that we give a fight with every pain and every blood that we have and see what happens next,” Daka said.
