Four people have died while 15 others are nursing injuries following an accident that happened in Kapiri Mposhi district.
The accident happened around 11:40 hours on Thursday at Green Leaf area, about 20 kilometers from Kapiri Mposhi Boma, between Kapiri Mposhi and Kabwe along the Great North Road.
Central Province Deputy Commissioner of Police Charity Munganga Chanda has confirmed the accident in a statement.
She explained that the accident happened when a Mitsubishi Rosa passenger bus Registration Number BCD 6737 which was being driven from Chingola to Lusaka by Mooto Mbamvu, 44 Kennedy Banda, with 18 passengers on board collided with a Howo truck and trailer registration number CAA 2631 and CAA 2632T property of Ustad tracking of Lusaka which was being driven by Kennedy Banda, 37 heading to Kapiri Mposhi.
Chanda said the accident happened when the driver of the Rosa bus was overtaking another vehicle and in the process collided head-on with the on coming Howo truck.
She said due to the impact of the collision, the driver of the bus and two of his male passengers whose names and residential address are not yet known, died on the spot and their bodies were deposited to Kapiri Mposhi district hospital mortuary awaiting identification and postmortem while one other unknown male passenger died on arrival at Kabwe Central Hospital.
Chanda disclosed that 15 passengers from the Rosa bus and the driver of the truck sustained injuries from the accident.
Ten accident victims have been admitted to Kapiri Mposhi District Hospital while five others have been referred to Kabwe Central Hospital for treatment.
