Zambia, Türkey sign MoU aimed at enhancing grain processing

The Citizen Economic Empowerment Commission of Zambia (CEEC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ana Milling, a Turkish manufacturer of milling equipment, aimed at enhancing grain processing in the country.

In a statement by First Secretary Press at Zambia’s Embassy in Türkiye Pamela Nkeete-Ng’andu, the MoU was signed by CEEC director general Dr Charles Mungule and Mustafa Kemal, chief executive officer for ANA Milling on behalf of Türkiye, at a ceremony witnessed by Zambia’s Ambassador to that country Lt. Gen. Dr. William Maipambe Sikazwe.

“The agreement is a step forward towards enhancing access to ANA Milling Equipment, benefiting targeted citizens and improving their livelihoods,” Dr Mungule said during the signing ceremony.

Nkeete-Ng’andu stated that Dr. Mungule was optimistic that the MoU will facilitate opportunities for the commission to access ANA Milling equipment that will enhance grain processing.

“This will leverage on the Agro-processing Loan Product aimed at empowering Zambian citizens in the agriculture sector. The initiative aligns itself with the broader vision driving economic growth and creating sustainable livelihood,” he stated.

The MoU is aimed at providing essential support and resources to local entrepreneurs in the milling industry, enabling them to thrive in a competitive market and contribute to sustainable economic development, job creation, and empowerment.

And Kemal highlighted the importance of investing in a collective future through the MoU, underscoring that the partnership aimed at not only fostering innovation and productivity but also implement a shared commitment to sustainable growth and development.

Kemal expressed optimism about the collaboration’s potential to bring about positive change and unlock new possibilities for communities and businesses alike.

Zambia’s Ambassador Lt Gen Sikazwe (Rtd.) expressed confidence in the partnership’s potential to drive socio-economic growth and create new economic opportunities for both nations.

Dr. Sikazwe emphasised the importance of embracing and harnessing new technological advancements in agriculture to achieve sustainable development goals and improve Agro – processing capabilities.
