Police arrest 8 in operation targeted at notorious groups attacking members of public

Police have arrested eight people during the operation which was conducted happened in Chainda and Meanwood.

In a statement, police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale stated that the twenty- eight which include 8 females were arrested after the operation conducted in Chainda Compound and Meanwood lbex.

“ Twenty- eight people including eight females were arrested in Lusaka during an operation carried out in Chainda Compound and Meanwood lbex. The operation targeted notorious groups which have been attacking members of the public in Chainda and surrounding areas,” Mwale  stated. “Police working in collaboration with the Reserve and members of the community Crime prevention unit (CCPU) started  the cleanup on  may 13, 2024 at 20:00 hrs and ended on May 14 2024 around 04:00 hours. One suspect identified as John Banda 35 of Chainda Compound was found in possession of stolen planks. He was interrogated later led police to Meanwood lbex where the property was stolen.He has been detained in custody together with other suspects ,aged between 17 and 35, who has been charged and arrested for ldle and disorderly act.”
