Quarterfinal beckons for German in Euros with game to spare

Hosts Germany are hoping to advance to the last 16 with a match to spare when they face Hungary tonight in their penultimate Group A match in Stuttgart.

The three-time European champions flattened 10-man Scotland 5-1 in the tournament’s opener last Friday. 

Germany face Hungary who lost 3-1 to second placed Switzerland on Saturday.

But interestingly, Germany head into the match with a four match winless run against Hungary who beat them 1-0 in their last meeting in 2022.

Germany trace their last victory over Hungary to 2016 and there after have posted three successive draws plus that loss heading into Wednesdays game.

Meanwhile, Scotland face Switzerland in a 21h00 kickoff tonight  the other Group A fixture earlier in  Cologne.

Earlier at 15h00 in Hamburg, Albania and Croatia faceoff for their first points in Group B follow 2-1 and 3-0 defeats to Italy and Spain.

15h00: Croatia – Albania (Group B)

18h00: Germany – Hungary (Group A)

21h00: Scotland – Switzerland (Group A)
