Women’s U-17 paired with powerhouses Japan, Brazil

The Zambia women’s U17 national team have been drawn against 2014 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup champions Japan in the group stages of the 2024 tournament Dominican Republic will host from October 16 to November 3, 2024.

Zambia’s other Group opponents are FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup first-timers Poland and two-time quarterfinalists Brazil. 

This will be Zambia’s second FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup outing since they made their debut at the 2014 championship held in Costa Rica. 

However, encounters with all three teams will mark Zambia’s tournament debuts against them.

Meanwhile, Zambia’s first game will be on October 17 against Brazil. 

Zambia will then face Poland in their penultimate group stage fixture on October 20 and then close it’s Group D obligations against Japan on October 23.

The top two finishers will advance to the quarterfinals on October 27 that will see them face the winner face runner-up from Group C while the Group D runner-up will face the Group C winner.

Group C comprises of Mexico, Kenya , England and two-time winners North Korea.
