Former Republican vice-president Dr Guy Scott’s wife, Dr Charlotte, says the invitation extended to President Hakainde Hichilema to the White House where he met USA Vice-President Kamala Harris shows the intent by that country to enhance relations with Zambia.
Speaking With Daily Revelation, Dr Charlotte said President Hichilema’s invitation was the first in a long time for a Zambian President.
“Without a doubt US-Zambia relations will strengthen further…for a bilateral visit to the White House, that’s not a mistake. That’s not an accident. That was made as a sign of an intent to grow the relations,” she said.
Speaking of hers and her husband’s past interactions with United States President Joe Biden then as Vice-President to Barack Obama, Dr Charlotte said President Biden was someone who was interested in youths and how to create the environment to grow into their economic ventures and society too.
She said the first month of President Hichilema’s administration has been wonderful so far.
“I am still pinching myself on whether it’s true (Hichilema is President),” said Dr Charlotte.
And in a tweet commending President Biden for saluting the youths in denouncing corruption by voting out the PF, Dr Scott stated “Appreciate today’s shout out from @POTUS for 🇿🇲 (Zambia). As VP he was genuinely very interested in hearing about Zambia and I Know @FLOTUS (Biden’s wife) enjoyed her trip here too.”
