Munir questions govt’s silence on Ngoma’s ‘tifyanta’ remarks

Independent Lumezi Member of Parliament Munir Zulu is wondering why the government and law enforcement agencies have been quiet over  presidential advisor Levy Ngoma’s ‘tifyanta’ remarks.

Zulu said Ngoma uttered these remarks in a bid to silence any opposing views from opposition parties.

Zulu said during urgent matters without notice that police have not issued any statement on this matter

“Madam Speaker, a few days ago the current political advisor to the president, while addressing a public rally in Sinda district uttered words saying anyone that  stands in the way of President Hakainde Hichilema, ‘tifyanta’, meaning we shall squeeze or I will crush you. These matters have not only settled well, not only with the members on your left, because this is a constitutional democracy,”  he said.

Zulu said that Ngoma who uttered these words at a public rally has been named in the Jay Jay Banda abduction case.

“Madam Speaker, our safety, especially that we have been talking of abductions in this country, which some of us have survived. But we can no longer continue ignoring the issue of abductions especially that someone who works at State House can proudly say I will crush you, and we have not seen the police issue any statement. Madam speaker, this is trying to silence views of members on your left especially that we have one member who is trying to recover from the scars of the abduction,” he said.

In response, Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti advised Zulu to put the matter in question form.

“You are advised to come up with a question. And honorable members, when you bring up these issues, please try to be specific because you have brought in two issues,” said Speaker Mutti. “Make sure you stick to one specific issue so that the minister or Her Honuor the Vice-President is supposed to attend to. So you can come up with a question or tomorrow during the Vice-President’s questions and answer time. You can take any option you feel like.”
