ABOLISHED RELIGIOUS MINISTRY ONLY HELPED CERTAIN PASTORS ACCESS STATE HOUSE, SAYS PHIRI

Former New Hope MMD deputy spokesperson Peter Phiri has charged that the dissolved ministry of national guidance and religious affairs was political and was established with hypocrisy.

In a statement availed to the Daily Revelation, Phiri stated that the ministry only benefited selected pastors and bishops that were inclined to the Patriot Front and were using the said ministry as a conduit for accessing State House and President Edgar Lungu.

“The ministry of religious affairs was political and was, primarily, established with hypocrisy. It was hypocritical and only benefited a few selected pastors and bishops that used to use it as a conduit to access State House and Edgar Lungu, in particular. Those of us that are genuine Christians are celebrating the abolishment of the ministry of religious affairs. We thank God for intervening in the abolishment of that ministry.”

Phiri suggested that since Zambia is a Christian Nation, what would be prudent is to establish a Christian Desk at State House; as apposed to establishing the ministry of religious affairs.
Phiri further explained that religion is a strong belief in supernatural power or powers that control human destiny.

“Religion belief is a strong belief in a supernatural power or powers that control human destiny. A hijab symbolised a type of Islamic religions belief of a Muslim woman in her faith. In contrast to other belief systems, religious beliefs are usually codified,” stated Phiri. “Religious adherents often distinguish their own religious beliefs from superstition. However, the term “superstition” refers to what the speaker sees as excessive or false religions behavior within a proper or accepted religious standards.”
