It was quite embarrassing and alarming to see UPND cadres break their way into State House, and police must arrest them for treason, Lupososhi member of parliament Emmanuel Mpankata (PF) has charged.
And Daily Revelation has learnt that the cadre who forcibly deleted the footage of UPND cadres forcibly entering into State House, at the urging of the other irate cadres, is a ‘journalist’, whose identity will be made known once proper verifications have been concluded.
Speaking with Daily Revelation, Mpankata said it had never happened in the history of the country were State House security was made so powerless as to allow the cadres break into State House grounds, saying they risked the President’s security.
“What happened at State House that day is quite embarrassing, very alarming. There is no way cadres can break security protocols at State House. State House is a sacrosanct place where no amount of political cadre can break the security barricade. But we saw in the video that State House security were overpowered,” Mpankata said. “If they can’t respect security protocols at State House, who are they going to respect at markets and bus stops as Obvious Mwaliteta is saying? They entered State House without screening. You don’t even know who got in there and what they were carrying.”
Mpankata said the actions by the UPND cadres amounted to a serious security breach and must not be taken lightly.
“That’s treasonable. Next time they will break barricades in Nkwazi House (the official residence for Zambian Presidents). Next time they will break into his bedroom of his house in New Kasama,” Mpankata said. “And where is the police inspector general Lemmy Kajoba and this fugitive Siandenge, for cadres to break in without ever commenting on the matter? Where is the minister of Home Affairs? Because you are threatening the security of our President.”
Mpankata said much as their own cadres were unruly in PF, especially during their time in power and he even came out and condemned them, it had never occurred that when they were stopped entry into State House, they became unruly and forced their way in.
“What has happened is very alarming and threatening to the security of our President. No where in the world has this happened. What type of law and order are they going to advance? This will be political Armageddon, Zambians are in for it. Watch the space,” he said.
Mpankata further urged journalists to demand that they be accorded sufficient protection, on account of the incident where UPND cadres forcibly grabbed the gadget from the Daily Revelation journalist and deleted the video of the misconduct, but was however recovered from the garbage section.
Daily Revelation is learning that the one who took the action is a known ‘journalist’, whose identity will be made known once verifications have been concluded.
“How do you go to the extent of grabbing the camera and deleting? These are criminals. I fear for you, just be careful and keep away from these blood thirsty thugs,” said Mpankata. “If anything, State House is the only place where things like the one from UPND cadres, if you shoot someone no one can even bring a case against you as security police.”
UPND cadres last Thursday forced their way unscreened into State House where President Hichilema addressed the press conference.
