Stardy deserves repudiation by all

Former permanent secretary in the Ministry of Defence in the Edgar Lungu administration, Stardy Mwale, unleashed on his colleague PF Chishimba Kambwili in a 15-minute audio that has gone viral, saying he wished it was he who died in the road accident as opposed to his two brothers, Mutale and Mwamba.

Mwale blamed Kambwili’s mouth for being responsible for the misfortunes he’s going through, saying he will continue going through difficulties unless he repented as there were many people who were complaining about him.

He accused Kambwili of having lied about him, including accusations that he bought his farm at $2.8 million when in fact he bought it at K6 million, and that he was going through a lot of problems today, including the seizure of that same farm by the Anti-Corruption Commission. He said his children were for the first time not going to school because of the many problems Kambwili occasioned on him.

Mwale further charged that he had CCTV footage showing Kambwili taking ladies to his lodge to fornicate with them, but later turned against him and started lying about him, leading to the many problems he was facing today.

Whatever the issues which exist between Mwale and Kambwili, only the two will know better.

Of course, it is a well known fact that Kambwili is a man of many weaknesses who says a lot with his mouth. However, this does not in anyway indicate that that we agree with the many allegations Mwale is raising as we do not have the proof. The weaknesses we are alluding to are independent of the many allegations Mwale is raising. 

In fact, we would not even wish to discuss anything concerning Kambwili right now, because humanity teaches us that you do not beat someone when they are down. Kambwili is suffering right now recovering from physical and emotion injuries following the recent road accident which claimed his very close brothers, and also resulted in him suffering some injuries from the same accident.

Therefore, whatever grievances Mwale or those around his circles might have, it is pure evil to have come out in the manner Mwale did, whatever grievances he may have against Kambwili. Mwale is in fact wishing that Kambwili should have been the one to have died from that accident because of the misfortune he has occasioned on him and others.

It is extremely dangerous for a human being to harbour such kind of bitterness that they would go to the extent of choosing the worst moment when one is literally down to say the worst things about them, even to the extent of wishing them dead. This speaks more to the nature of who Mwale really is. And this is someone who served the nation as a leader for several years as permanent secretary with such kind of character. One can only imagine what someone with that mind and character is capable of, especially against people who cross his paths or indeed anger him.

Mwale has got his rights to think the way he wishes against Kambwili. He’s even entitled to feel the way he wants to feel about Kambwili. He’s entitled to feel aggrieved if indeed Kambwili treated him badly as he asserts. But it’s surely not human nature for any civilised person to come out in the manner he did. And surely not from a person who served this country in that high position as a permanent secretary administering over people’s affairs.

Self control is one of the hallmarks of a leader. Surely, if Mwale has been able to hold his anger for all this long, we are sure he could have done with just a little bit more patience to have allowed Kambwili to heal, before pouring out whatever he wished to pour out. Such pure heartlessness shown by Mwale should surely be repudiated by all in a society that has values and principles.
