MTN super league resumes this weekend

The MTN/FAZ Super League resumes this weekend after the conclusion of Chipolopolo’s successful 2025 AFCON qualification during the November break to greet some new faces on a couple of club benches.

Nchanga Rangers leads the way with the return of ex-Zesco United and Green Buffaloes coach George Lwandamina to Chingola where he had a brief stint 25 years ago as a technical advisor after he left Mufulira Wanderers.

Lwandamina replaces the popular and photogenic Robert Tembo who failed to win his last eight games since Nchanga beat Lumwana Radiants 4-0 on August 28 at home in Chingola.

The ex-Zesco coach starts his job this Saturday at fourth from bottom Nchanga with a big test against defending champions Red Arrows who sit at number five.

In Lusaka, Zanaco starts life without Wedson Nyirenda who quit after an 18-month stay in his second stint with The Bankers.

In Nyirenda’s place, is his long-time assistant David Chilufya who rejoined Zanaco a month ago as an advisor.

Chilufya’s first game will also be this Saturday in a Lusaka derby against Nkwazi.

Bottom of the table and still winless Indeni also begin life without the man who led them to promotion this season Tenant Chembo.

Chembo has worked under very difficult circumstances as Indeni cannot buy any players after FIFA banned them for breaching contractual obligations to a former player.

First assistant coach Keegan Syabeene will be in charge on Saturday as Indeni visits Green Eagles in Choma.
