I FORESAW PF LOSS, SAYS KELVIN SAMPA

I foresaw the Patriot Front losing in the 12 August general elections, says Kelvin Sampa.

Speaking when he featured on Radio Christian Voice programme, Sampa explained that he had the privilege to interact with the young people across the country when he served as national youth chairman and; from what was obtaining on the ground, he could tell that the PF was going to lose power to the then opposition UPND.

The former Kasama Member of Parliament disclosed that the recommendations he used to make to the party secretariat over the matter in his routine reports, but the said recommendations were being ignored.

“I will be frank with you. I served as national youth chairman for the PF, and during my tour of the country, I interacted with the youths. And there were some indicators that the PF is going to lose. I foresaw the Patriot Front losing in the 12 August general elections,” said Sampa.

The former Kasama lawmaker said he became unpopular among senior party members for making certain decisions.

“I spoke out against cadreism, I spoke out against the tendency by Patriot Front members harassing political opponents. And I was condemned,” explained Sampa during a radio programme monitored by Daily Revelation. “I told the PF leadership at Intercity to stop what they were doing there; to stop collecting money from Intercity, but I was called names. I became unpopular.”

And Sampa has stated that politics is an expensive undertaking.

Sampa further said he is taking leave active politics.

“I used to spend a lot of my personal and family money on politics. I usually give myself a period of five years to reflect on something that I am doing. So I can now publicly tell you that I am talking a back seat from active politics,” said Sampa, who was left out on the PF adoptions in favour of Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba’s daughter, Sibongile.
