Patriot Front Kabushi Member of Parliament Bowman Lusambo has opposed the proposal to have the Constituency Development Fund administered at the Constituency office.
Speaking when he featured on MUVI Television The Assignment Programme on Sunday night, which was also monitored by Daily Revelation, Lusambo argued that Constituency offices do not have competent members of staff to handle more than K25 million.
“You want to bring K25.7 million to the Constituency office where I have no competent officers to administer such an amount of money. Let them come up with… let them put it to district level. Let the District Commissioner do the rest of the thing and let the officers at Constituency offices continue administering the K1.6 million Constituency Development Fund,” said Lusambo.
Asked by programme host if he was trying to indermine the competence and potential of people working in his Constituency office and residents in Kabushi Constituency, the lawmaker still maintained that the staff at his office have no capacity to administer the Constituency Development Fund that has been proposed in next year’s budget.
“I don’t have. Let me tell you, I only have three people working at my Constituency office; the secretary, a guard and an administrative officer – only three – those are my workers, those are the people I am working. And those do not have the capacity to administer K25.7 million,” Lusambo insisted.
Asked further why he cannot assemble his constituents to deliberate on the matter, considering the fact that Kabushi is a big Constituency, Lusambo responded. “My friend, my friend my people know where my Constituency office is.”
