Acting PF secretary general Nickson Chilangwa has taken advice from senior PF officials to take action against Lusaka provincial chairlady Charity Banda, over what they have termed her insults on former president Edgar Lungu.
But Banda has unloaded more on Lungu, Chilangwa and the other PF officials she accuses of dilly dallying over the holding of the convention, in order to frustrate people like Chishimba Kambwili.
In an interview with Daily Revelation, Banda unloaded on Lungu and the “clique” he is said to be working with to hold on to the presidency, saying it was a missed call if he thinks he could hold on to the PF presidency in order to bounce back as Republican president, as he lamentably lost to President Hakainde Hichilema.
The story went viral following its publication and was a subject of discussion in several platforms, including the WhatsApp group for the PF’s supreme organ, the MCC WhatsApp group.
Sources said some people that called on Banda to be disciplined, included Stephen Kampyongo, Professor Nkandu Luo, Jean Kapata, and several others.
One of the bloggers posted: “Hon. Nickson Chilangwa you are now the Acting Secretary General of the Party since MCC Davies Mwila stepped down as SG yesterday! I would appeal to your office to summon Lusaka Provincial Chairlady Madam Charity katango Banda or she must be suspended for gross-misconduct in a Statement that is circulating on social media of her disrespecting the former Head of State Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, I find her statement as misplaced and misleading to the many millions of supporters who still love PF out there!
Also its important to understand that President Lungu held the office of Presidency of the Republic of Zambia! The institution of Presidency has other legal provisions for former Head of State and it will be wise to educate Mrs Charity katango Banda ECL is has immunity that protects him from individuals like Mrs Charity Katongo Banda !
Yes we lost the Elections on 12 August 2021 and ECL was parent but we can’t go on with the blame game! we lost the Elections and what is important is for us to show unite of Purpose for each one of us !
Madam Charity katango Banda must be suspended for her disrespectful utterances towards President Lungu!

And Chilangwa responded to the concerns in the affirmative.
“Thank you very much for your valued observation and the party will do the right thing following the party constitution,” stated Chilangwa.
But Banda unleashed more on Lungu, Chilangwa and others, imploring Chilangwa to stop being arrogant and show leadership as the former ruling party starts preparing to go for a national convention.
In an audio availed to Daily Revelation, Banda has charged that the PF Kawambwa member of parliament has allegedly failed to show leadership, but exhibiting some arrogance as the former ruling party prepares to go for a national convention, thereby creating some factions in the PF among party presidential aspirants and their supporters.
“Ba Chilangwa lekeni ifyo ifyo muletalika (Chilangwa stop arguing like that). I know you know what is happening at the secretariate, but you want to be running around. You even know who made us lose the election. Ba Chilangwa, let me tell you… I have been in the party for a long time. Mulelanda ati ba Province twalilusisha ama election. Tiyeni tuchindike icipani. Let us not destroy the party,” Banda said. “I wanted to meet you – or even the two of us – but you have just been telling me that you don’t want be disturbed. Ba Chilangwa, mwalinsasukile. You are arrogant! Stop the arrogance.. ! We know we need you. But can you provide leadership.”
She accused the PF members of central committee of creating factions in the former ruling party.
“Uyu wine (Chishimba) Kambwili mulelanda ati aleponta, he left the PF in 2016 because of frustrations. Takwaba na ci party ica ma factions (You are saying Chishimba Kambwili used to talk ill about the PF. You should know that that man left out of frustrations. And you cannot have a party rocked with factions),” Banda argued.
She further said that the PF needs a fearless president.
“Ba (Davies) Chama abo nababekata. Muleyakofye umo umo. No one is speaking out. We need fearless leaders,” she said. “Elyo teti inkumbwe. I am even happy that I am not part of the MCCs. That is a rotten MCC (Members of the Central Committee). You are rotten MCCs.”
Banda further reminded Chilangwa to guide president Edgar Lungu.
“You and me know what we went through. Lekeni ifyo mulechita. Guide the president… guide your president,” she said further reminding the PF deputy secretary general that the PF leadership used Kambwili and wondered why they want to discard him this around.
She also pointed out that inasmuch as some PF members of parliament have retained their parliamentary seats, the party has lost power to the UPND. Banda said Chilangwa was in fact among those who were opposed to Lungu taking over following the death of president Sata.
