What would have been considered taboo just over three months ago, PF cadres are now readily attacking former president Edgar Lungu, with some even saying he still bears allegiance to the UPND as a former member there, accusing him of being motivated to “kill the PF”, while continuing to threaten violence against the leaders.
And one of the PF bloggers, posting in one of the ‘fiery blogs’, which has mainly pitted the grassroots supporters of Chishimba Kambwili and the party’s supreme body, praised President Hakainde Hichilema’s leadership over the UPND cadres unlike what president Lungu did.
But PF chairperson for information and publicity said party cadres who were threatening violence were falling into the same deeds which made PF lose power.
PF cadres are at ‘war’ with the party’s central committee over what they view as delaying tactics to push the holding of the general conference to June 2022 so that president Lungu could hold on to the presidency and effect the changes he wanted during this period.
Lungu, Nakachinda and leader of the opposition in Parliament Brian Mundubile, and the entire central committee are bearing the brunt of the attacks in the audios being listened to by Daily Revelation on a daily basis.
One of the bloggers, posting in the group called, Ama Amelican PF, posted a voice note urging people in the group to forward the message to Nakachinda if he were not on the blog.
The blogger said Lungu was only interested in using Chishimba Kambwili during general election periods and thereafter discard him, as he himself was not eloquent enough to speak to the voters.
“Edgar Lungu would never have won us this election in 2015, 2016 if we were in the opposition … I am warning Raphael Nakachinda in the same manner you are warning us, me as a papa Kitende, papa Gunasi, papa Lisashi, want to warm you, you have so much power from Chagwa Lungu Edgar to destroy PF … Why didn’t you put on that same binoculars to see that Lungu is losing? Edgar Lungu lost and should now go to the farm, ayende apumule,” the blogger said. “Nakachinda you used to say Sata takwata amano, lelo muchipani iche shilu emo mwanonkela. We lost because of Lungu’s third term, his stubbornness and corruption, and responding mfwiti, mfwiti, mfwiti when he was asked about corruption by journalists. You need to have natural wisdom as a leader. And then the cadres also who were sleeping with even pastors wife.”
The blogger said Lungu allowed cadres to do as they wished.
“HH alikwata order on his cadres. I thank HH, His Excellency, efyo akwata order over his cadres. Ba PF, me I am PF real, if it were us who won, the UPND would not even be allowed to wear their regalia, we would be beating them everyday. But in PF the cadres were free to do as they pleased,” he said. “Even in a home a parent does not hesitate to whip a child when they are misbehaving. But the cadres had so much power, very shameless. You say we are doing postmortem how can you do that with dirty people? We are supporting HH over his orders, not imwe there was no order, it was just a free for all … His Excellency, kateka, aaaahg.”
The blogger said Lungu allowed cadres, corruption to reign supreme in the country.
“Lesa alemipala pabututu, napabunangwa, napabupuba (God bless your foolishness) you have over the death of the party. Tatulapena, bushe ngatwapena mukatwikatanya? Tatulapena tulemitambafye. Pantu iyo day tukesa mikumpa mukomfwa kwati katwishi ichapona olo libwe lyafuma mu heaven yakwa Lesa (If you think we are done you a mistaken, we haven’t gotten mad yet because the day we will come for you, you will think a stone has fallen from heaven),” the blogger said. “So keep yourself Nakachinda. Control your mouth.”
Another one said, if the leaders want discipline they should first of all listen to what the grassroots were saying.
“In fact they should appreciate that people are just talking, but if they think it will remain like it will not be good for them. Nefyo bakala butuka ulubilo bakamona (They will believe the day they start scampering for safety). Let them ask Richard Kachingwe, what people like Bowman Lusambo did to him,” the blogger said. “Balibatakenye, efyo balefwaika nabo ukubatakanya (He was roughed up in the same manner it should be done to them). just wait. Remain there saying you are central committee when you are not even working, just eating people’s money.”
But Nakachinda said “it is just that in Zambia we give credence even to stupidity, which is very unfortunate”, saying the loss of elections has inflamed emotions in party members.
He said the party was handling matters meticulously so as not to repeat the mistakes of the other former ruling parties UNIP and MMD, where he came.
“Those threatening violence basically are falling into the same trap of actions and deeds that led to the Zambian people voting us out of office. If there is anything the Zambian people are looking forward to is a repentant Patriotic Front in which our attitude towards what we are doing is genuine, honest in the sense that we are taking a genuine moment of introspection,” Nakachinda said. “One of the clear recommendations was that let’s not rush into the so-called general conference to elect leadership before attending to issues the Zambian people were upset with, among them hooliganism and cadreism in the party. So are we sure we want to use hooliganism and violence as a means to which we are going to produce a leader of the so-called rebranded Patriotic Front?”
He said the party needs to take stock of all structures and make sure that a transparent, legitimate, non fraudulent and non corrupt process will be put in place from which a leader will emerge.
“It has nothing to do with president Lungu having a click and wanting to buy everybody. And those who aspire for leadership in the party, why are some of them so desperate that it has just to be their way and nobody’s ways?” Nakachinda asked.
But asked on assertions that he was being viewed by some as a “step child” from the MMD who should not be talking about PF issues, Nakachinda described such as malicious excuses because the MMD he belonged to was in an alliance with PF, and that he was already deemed to have been expelled from the MMD and therefore he could not announce resignation from a party he had been expelled from already.
“Even if I joined recently, are we going to classify members within PF, who are these members, old ones, new ones and so on. Is that the route we are going to take? Are we sure we are serious about rebranding?” asked Nakachinda. “We don’t want new members we just want to keep the old one? If that is the route I can tell you that that is the beginning of the end of PF, because the growth of a political party lies in you ability to attract new members to join you.”
Getting back to the bloggers, another one posted that Lungu and his team were the ones who cost the party the elections, saying he knew in his heart of hearts that he was going for a third term but he still insisted.
“Even now people are saying they want Kambwili but you go and bring Mundubile, do you think we are sleeping? We will go to M’membe or Kalaba. We can’t stay you have caused us to suffer,” he said.
Another one said Mundubile’s recent posting that he was ready to lead if the majority said so, had confirmed information that Lungu wanted to place him there as a care taker president in order to regain the party presidency in 2025
“That heart you Lungu have is what cost us, but wait for we the youths we are geared. Tukembana inama mumeno that’s when you will know the party is not right,” he said.
Another blogger said there was no point for president Lungu to hold on to the PF presidency because “Edgar Lungu failed to win us elections, incumbent being defeated by 1 million votes. And if you come back who will vote for you?We no longer have any hope in Lungu and those in MCC.”
Another one said: “Does it mean we in the PF are not intelligent unless those who came from the MMD and UPND like Lungu? Are they the only ones intelligent enough to run PF than we the owners? What you did not suffer for you can’t properly take care of it, that’s why even Lungu did not care for PF because he did not suffer for it. He suffered with UPND. Even Mundubile never suffered for it.”
Another one said: “You said other people misled you to fire Kambwili, nabuno nshita why mwatwalilila bu mapyete, why mwatwalilia bu puti (Why have you continued with your typical lying)? If you continue in your ways you will hear from us. We are not scared of anything. Mundubile those plans you have we refuse them, you have been sent by failure Edgar Lungu.”
Another one said the party must scrutinise people who lead the party and amend the constitution to empower party members recall the President if they were not performing to people’s expectations, so that an individual is not allowed to hold the party to ransom
Another one posted condolences over the death of UPND Kabwata member of parliament Mkamdawire, saying it was not good that the parliamentarian had died this early before even finishing his term, but then wondered who would lead the party in the by-election
“The UPND are already accusing PF of killing that person, of course there will be a by-election. Now who is going to lead the party as president, pantu ba Given Lubinda balikowela, don’t allow him to campaign for you,” he said.
Another one warned Nakachinda to respect himself, warning “tukakulangishe amatako yankumba. Don’t cause me to find you number, I am the one you hear being said that I am Papa Gunasi,” said the blogger. “Nakachinda and Mundubile are MMD, Lubinda is ULP and naba Edgar Lungu abo he’s a UPND. That’s why bamudala balibipa umutima (he is bad hearted). But may God bless him for being bad hearted. God will judge him. People are crying but Lungu is enjoying with his children.”
