We are going to get to the bottom of the matter behind the death of former Kabwata member of parliament Levy Mkandawire, says police.
Speaking with Daily Revelation, police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said the police will follow through on their mandate to investigate any criminal or criminal incident.
“So as Police we are going to investigate to get to the bottom of the issue,” said Hamoonga.
Hamoonga’s boss, Inspector General Lemmy Kajoba, who is in Istanbul, Turkey attending a meeting, had earlier told Daily Revelation that he did not know how far the service had gone with the investigations, but he was sure that his deputy was very much in charge.
“And I think that matter must be investigated. I am yet to talk to them to find out how far they have gone with the investigations,” said Kajoba.
President Hakainde Hichilema yesterday said he is optimistic that the law enforcement agencies will follow the matter to the latter to established bizarre circumstances behind the scenes of the death are established, without any undue interference.
Mkandawire is being buried today at Memorial Park burial site.
Mkandawire died last Friday when a BMW vehicle registration number ALM 5955 driven by Jane Mwale lost control and rammed into his IST registration number ALM 2038 at his home in Woodlands.
