DIPLOMATIC RECALLS HIT OVERDRIVE … Simbyakula, Solomon Jere, Libongani, Frank Bwalya and Lumbi among those recalled

By Staff Reporter

Information reaching Daily Revelation says the recall of ambassadors and diplomats has once again hit overdrive, following the settlement reached in the appointments of first ministers, permanent secretaries and district commissioners.

Well placed sources in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have told Daily Revelation that most serving ambassadors and other diplomatic staff, particularly those that are into their second terms have received recall letters.

Among the names mentioned as having been recalled include High Commissioners to Namibia, Nigeria and Australia, Mozambique Stella Libongani, Solomon Jere and, Frank Bwalya (who has already confirmed) and Paul Lumbi, who is now into his 10th year serving in the diplomatic service. Libongani also served as police inspector general during late president Michael Sata’s reign, with Jere serving as deputy IG.

Sources have further mentioned Zambia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dr Ngosa Simbyakula has also been recalled.

Meanwhile, at Foreign Affairs, Chembo Mbula is the permanent secretary in charge of administration, which is viewed to be more senior to the permanent secretary in charge of international relations held by his fellow appointee Isabel Lemba.

Chembo is the son to Zambia’s former High Commissioner to South Africa Leslie Mbula, who also served as secretary to cabinet during the reigns of Frederick Chiluba and Levy Mwanawasa.
