Acting Secretary to Cabinet Patrick Kangwa says Cabinet office will implement the Covid-19 measures as directed by the committee of ministers.
Speaking with Daily Revelation, Kangwa, who is head of the civil service in the country, was asked if they would go ahead to enforce the directive from the government demanding civil servants to receive Covid-19 jabs or else they would not be admitted for work. Responding, Kangwa initially said that the queries should be channeled towards the minister of Health Sylvia Masebo.
But reminded that he had been asked because he was head of the civil service, Kangwa said: “Okay I well understand your approach but when decisions of that nature are made at the ministerial level in a sector, the Ministry handles it first and then we handle it second. We have received their document and we are reviewing it to see to ensure that it is implemented according to the instructions from the committee of ministers.”
Put to him that several civil servants are complaining about the measures as they feel they are being coerced to receive the vaccination, Kangwa said they have the right to question, but that he would only be in a position to give a good answer later as he was attending a meeting.
