I will not forego the petition for the Lubansenshi seat, says newly appointed permanent secretary special duties Patrick Mucheleka.
Speaking with Daily Revelation after being sworn in at State House this afternoon, Mucheleka said he will carry on with the petition, despite being a civil servant now. Mucheleka won the petition in the High Court but the person he challenged will appeal to the higher court.
“That petition is still going on we are not foregoing. The party, including myself ultimately the party will make a decision at an appropriate time. So we are not foregoing and the two if anything are not even related. The petition is is something else and I will serve in this appointment,” Mucheleka said.
He said there was nothing illegal with his appointment as he can be appointed to any position, except being nominated as member of parliament or as cabinet minister.
Mucheleka said he was humbled, thanking President Hichilema for continuing to place confidence and trust in his abilities.
“Ours will be enhanced service delivery, trying to find out how we can come out of this quagmire we find ourselves in, challenges left by the former regime, particularly the fight against corruption and the huge debt mountain,” said Mucheleka, saying for those who did not know him he was coming from a professional background working as a development practitioner before he ventured into politics in 2011.
