We would have loved to be here to celebrate your fulfilled promises, not this, Katebe tells Hichilema

OASIS Forum chairperson Beauty Katebe says they would have loved to be at State House to celebrate the delivery of President Hakainde Hichilema’s campaign promises, and not what they were there for today debating a contentious and rushed constitutional amendment process by his administration.

“We wanted to be here for a celebration and not what we are here for … We would have wanted to be here to celebrate the delivery of your promises, not what we are here for,” said Katebe.

She said people wanted to have a President who cried with them and who was in the dungeons with them, someone who had seen it all like President Hichilema during his many years in the opposition.

She said President Hichilema actually experienced the dungeons deeper, and therefore, people were happy to see him get elected as Republican President as they were electing someone who had been through it all.

She told President Hichilema that the contentious Bill 7 must be completely withdrawn from Parliament until a new process that was backed by legal safeguards was put in place, and that the same should be inclusive, holistic and should not be a rushed process.
