Russian specialists from the Kulakov National Medical Research Center are visiting Zambia to share best approaches to reducing infant mortality, and presenting the best practices in obstetrics, gynaecology and neonatology.

In a press release made available to Daily Revelation yesterday by the Press Service at the Russian Embassy in Lusaka, the five-day seminar was dedicated towards the most pressing issues of maternal and child health.

“Russian specialists from the Kulakov National Medical Research Center are sharing with their Zambian colleagues modern approaches to reducing maternal and infant mortality, presenting the best Russian practices in obstetrics, gynaecology, and neonatology,” the Russian Embassy stated. “The seminar program includes detailed clinical case discussions, interactive lectures, training sessions on managing complicated deliveries, as well as an overview of organisational aspects of perinatal care. Special attention is given to early diagnostics, safe pregnancy management technologies, and improving the quality of medical services in regional hospitals.”

The Embassy indicated that Zambian doctors – obstetricians, gynaecologists, and neonatologists from various provinces of the country – were participating in the event, something the Embassy described as demonstrating strong interest in professional exchange and practical skills that could be applied in their local healthcare facilities.

“Russian-Zambian cooperation in the field of medicine continues to grow stronger each year, and the implementation of such programs highlight the shared commitment of both countries to protecting the health of women and children,” the Embassy indicated. “The seminar will continue in the coming days, bringing together specialists whose mission is to safeguard the lives and well-being of mothers and newborns.”
