President Hakainde Hichilema has suggested closing the party from where those he is accusing as “militias” are coming from.
Addressing UPND youths at Community House today, President Hichilema accused Brian Mundubile’s Tonse alliance of seeking to get into power through what he has termed as “militias.”
He said they knew they were losing elections but pronounced themselves as winners – in apparent reference to NRPUP presidential candidate Mundubile.
”You break the law and start crying. What are you scared of? I have thrown the sympathy of 2021 over the window,” President Hichilema said. “This country will not allow militias, armed people masquerading as parties …. olo chipati nikuchivala nochivala (Even that party must be closed)?”
President Hichilema said he was in the opposition for 15 years but not a single day did he involve himself in buying arms.
He referred to the leader of Ichabaiche and Tonse alliance member Binwell Mpundu’s remarks that he was ready to kill and to be killed.
”This country has no space for such people,” President Hichilema said.
He said no one would be allowed to divide Zambians, saying he knew those who have been praying and wearing “robes” and working to divide the nation.
”Some people from inside started even issuing Gen20s reports, results reports when the voting was still going on. Where did they find those forms?” President Hichilema said. “Someone even declared himself a winner when the votes were just being separated. How did he know? But you caught him by the tail.”
H charged that “those boys were dull” when they thought they were clever, saying they were busy making noise while he stayed quiet.
”You can’t put yourself in the presidency when people have not voted for you. You can’t cheat your way into the presidency so that you can finish what you didn’t finish in 10 years,” said President Hichilema. “That’s why they had a plan to steal the elections, nati mwachepa sana baiche imwe (I said you are too small you boys) … Vibanyamata ivi vinali vima ministers mu PF (these boys were ministers in PF), why didn’t they think about free education?”
