Mafinga South MP Faith Munthali

Citizens First (‎CF) acting president Mary Zambezi says the party’s member of parliament for Mafinga South Faith Munthali has been ‘abducted’.

‎Zambezi said Munthali was ‘abducted’ from her home this morning, after 10 people with one of them wearing a ‘combat’ stormed her house, where Faith and herself were.

She said she called the incident as an ‘abduction’ because the people who went to her house just stormed the place without a search or an arrest warrant.

“They came like hooligans, about 10 of them, although there was a lady who was wearing a combat. It was so bad that my daughter actually fainted in the manner they handled things,” Zambezi said. “By the time they came, honourable Munthali was in the bathroom. Before that they actually roughed up my garden boy and he sustained a swollen arm. They stormed my home. It was so bad. I said you can’t bunch into my house without a warrant but they were just quiet and went about their business in a crude manner.”

She said they picked Munthali and they did not indicate where they were taking her.

“We have just come from the police right now and they said they don’t now her whereabouts and that they will get back to us after they had established the whereabouts,” said Zambezi.

Munthali in a recent interview with Daily Revelation said she had received information that there were plans to have her ‘abducted’ with the ultimate purpose of creating a by-election in her constituency.

Zambezi has told Daily Revelation that she captured the picture of the vehicle in which Munthali was allegedly whisked away from her home.

She defeated her competitors, including UPND candidate and ‘PF acting president’ Robert Chabinga in the just ended 2026 general elections.

Efforts to get a comment from the police have so far been futile as calls are going unanswered.
