Kapiri Mposhi’s Muteteshi ward councillor Clifford Chinyemba Nyonyo (UPND) has urged his fellow youths to buy into President Hakainde Hichilema’s Grow Zambia Agenda.
Ndonyo says that the recent youth investment summit he recently attended in Abu Dhabi had revealed that young Zambians do not take advantage of opportunities that unfold, especially when the government is making strides to attract investors in the country.
The civic leader called on young “Zambians to tap into the investment opportunities that the Head of State has been creating, as a result of the foreign trips he has been taking as Chief Marketing Officer.”
He said that sustainable development cannot be attained without the active participation of young people.
”We have a responsibility as young people to take an active role in fostering national development. And as youths, I think we need to buy into President Hakainde Hichilema’s Grow Zambia Agenda. This is because sustainable development cannot be attained without the active participation of young people,” explained Ndonyo in an interview.
He explained that the summit he attended in Abu Dhabi in September gave young people from Africa, and across the Globe to attend a Mining Expo that highlighted investment interests by companies in the United Arab Emirates to invest, not only in the mining sector, but the agriculture sector as well.
”The manufacturing companies in the United Arab Emirates need manganese, copper and other mineral resources that we have here in Zambia. And they are interested in investing or having partnerships in our country. And these are the opportunities that unfold and young people should take advantage of,” he said.
Councillor Ndonyo further urged young people to form cooperatives and register companies so that they can actively participate in the Grow Zambia Agenda.
He said that the challenges facing young people are not insurmountable, and urged his fellow civic leaders to help youths that would want to form cooperatives and register companies so that they can be empowered and contribute to national development.
”Of course there are challenges and bottlenecks that young people face when forming cooperatives and registering some companies. But these challenges and not insurmountable. And it is for this reason that, as civic leaders, we have to take it upon ourselves to help the youths to come up with project proposals that can be acceptable. Project proposals that would align with the requirements needed to get their applications legally registered, because not everyone can formulate an acceptable project proposal,” said Ndonyo.
