Sean Tembo has said that Patriots for Economic Progress will only be able to project its chances of winning the Kabushi and Kwacha parliamentary seats after identifying and gauging its aspiring candidates against other participating political parties.
Tembo has told Daily Revelation that Patriots for Economic Progress will not rally behind any political party in the forthcoming parliamentary by-elections in Kabushi and Kwacha constituencies, but will go in the electoral battle field as a single political organisation.
Asked if PeP will partner with any opposition political party ahead of the two parliamentary by-elections on the Copperbelt, which are slated for September 15, Tembo said that the political organisation is ready to go it alone in the said parliamentary by-elections.
“Yes, we are participating. We are participating,” stressed Tembo, who is the Patriots for Economic Progress leader. “How can we participate and support another political party? We are not going to partner or rally behind any opposition political party in the forthcoming parliamentary by-elections.”
Asked to rate the chances of Patriots for Economic Progress scooping the said forthcoming parliamentary by-elections in Ndola and Kitwe, Tembo said that PeP has already placed some advertisements, calling on individuals who might be interested in vying for the said parliamentary seats, saying that the opposition political party will only be able to project its chances of winning the seats after identifying and its candidates and gauging them against other candidates from participating political parties.
“We will only be in a position to project that after gauging our adopted candidates against the candidates that will be adopted by other political parties,” Tembo explained. “We have already advertised for those parliamentary seats and we are currently receiving applications from would be parliamentary candidates.”
