MMD leader Nevers Mumba has said that he has stopped commenting on the issue of party president because it is a tired story.
Reacting to comments by immediate past MMD deputy spokesperson Peter Phiri who said that Dr Mumba’s tenure as party president came to an end in May 2021 and, therefore, he should step down to pave way for someone else by going for a national convention, Dr Mumba said that the said issue is irrelevant and would not comment on it.
“We no longer comment on that, especially myself, I don’t comment on the issue of MMD presidency. I am sure even if you called the party spokesperson, he wouldn’t comment. The MMD story is known all over the country and there are court judgments to that effect. It is a tired story which is irrelevant for us to comment on,” said Dr Mumba.
He said he would not be detracted from executing his duties as party president.
