All stupid fools masquerading as UPND members and engaging in political violence are on their own and have to themselves to blame when the law catches up with them, says Chushi Kasanda.
In an interview, Kasanda has said that most of the people that are allegedly engaging in political violence are not “genuine UPND members, but want to dent the name of the ruling party, which has pledged non tolerance towards political violence.”
She accused the Patriot Front leadership as being the architecture of political violence in Zambia.
Asked to give the UPND government’s position and statement regarding the glaring political violence being perpetuated by UPND members in Mkushi, Lusangazi and Petauke, Kasanda distanced the UPND from such acts of hooliganism, claiming that the UPND administration has nothing to do with some pockets of violence being witnessed in the country.
“It goes, therefore, that all political fools masquerading as UPND members and engaging in political violence are on their own and are not part of the ruling UPND,” said Kasanda. “And, again, the information we getting on the ground is that those individuals are actually not UPND members. Further more, all those people masquerading as UPND members and engaging in hooliganism should know that they are on their own. As government, we shall not protect anyone from being held accountable for their stupid actions.”
Kasanda also agreed that there are some suspected UPND cadres have been harassing marketeers and other members of the public in trading places and bus stations, saying the Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security, in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government are working tirelessly to address the challenge.
