Hakainde behaves like an abused child when he’s standing before the imperialists, FDD leader Edith Nawakwi has charged.
And Nawakwi charged that the United States of America and their western partners are capable of fomenting instability in the country if they feel President Hakainde Hichilema’s hold on power is threatened, saying they have always been known to sponsor terror and assassinations in Africa whenever they feel that their transnational interests are threatened.
Speaking with Daily Revelation, Nawakwi said it seemed the abuse from the colonialism that has been meted against Africans was deeply ingrained in President Hichilema, such that when he stands before the imperialists he behaves like a timid child who has been abused.
“We still have African leaders who are timid and behaving like timid children who are abused. It’s as if colonialism and abuse from the colonialists meted on African minds is still the hallmark of leadership like in Zambia… here is an educated young man who has no shame and pandering himself before imperialists. We feel embarrassed when we see our leader standing akimbo before a Secretary of State of the United States of America. It invokes in us the pain of poverty,” Nawakwi said. “Cobalt is now being given on a silver plate to America. This is at a time when Africa should be closing ranks and use the support of UNECA as a lead organisation in negotiations and ADB and African development institutions to get African countries together for such projects to leverage our common African future.”
Nawakwi said the idea to add value to the cobalt resources was a brainchild of Africa through institutions like the African Development Bank, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and the African Import and Export Bank, saying she wanted to know what role these institutions will play in the new agreement signed by Zambia and Congo with the Americans.
“Unfortunately our brains are still yoked to those who enslaved us and colonised our minds. The MOU by the two Presidents of Zambia and DRC is a betrayal of Pan Africanism and a slap in the face of our development institutions such as ADB and UNECA,” Nawakwi said. “I have always known that when Americans side with any leader it’s not about the so called democratic institutions but about plunder. Weren’t they in Angola on the wrong side? Where is Afghanistan today? Glorifying anything western is misguided. America is for Americans let our continent pull up the pieces. When shall we have leaders who can come out of mental colonisation.”
Nawakwi charged that Zambia was being partitioned and looted “under our watch.”
“This is the worst betrayal from Hakainde’s heartless looting and disrespect for African institutions such as ADB, UNECA let alone the people of Zambia. He is an elite who knows nothing about the political economy of Zambia and Africa. He delights in the Company of the Anglo-American plunder no wonder he throws all protocol to the wind to be in America,” she said.
Nawakwi said President Hichilema was all too consumed with being called “a democrat who ran away from the Chinese”, warning that the USA and their western partners were not to be trusted as they always run away when the chips are down, in the same manner they did in Angola, Afghanistan and other countries when their resource interests could no longer be sustained.
“Hakainde wants to parade that he’s their friend. Of course he is a friend of Anglo-American, the imperialists who deserted us when we needed them the most because the copper prices had gone way too low for their liking. They wanted to sell our mine for a dollar,” Nawakwi said. “Of course Hakainde is auctioning this country at the altar of being a blue-eyed boy for the west. But they must be told that Hakainde’s time is limited just as their time too is limited here in Zambia, unless they assassinate us the way they used to assassinate our leaders … they are not friends of Zambia but friends of their stomachs. Pick one American school they have built.”
Nawakwi charged that key leaders that have attempted at uniting Africa and using its resources to work for the Africans have been assassinated, including Patrice Lumumba, Thomas Sankara and Muammar Gaddaffi.
“Them saying that Hakaiande is their friend because he is fighting China, is that the reason why Hakainde has stopped the construction of Masaiti Dam, meant to supply water to the people of Ndola and other areas? If you don’t like them they will kill you the way they killed Gaddaffi,” she said.
She argued that she could not rule out them fomenting instability in the event they saw President Hichilema’s hold on power threatened, saying they always find a way to use terror to defend their interests in the same manner they have illegally occupied oil fields in Syria and invaded Iraq to have access to that country’s wealth, and that in Angola they fought for the same cause but lost.
Nawakwi said the same Joe Biden administration whose policy on issues like the LGBTQ agenda is facing widespread rejection in the United States, is being forced on the Zambian people to be accepted as human rights despite widespread opposition from the overwhelming majority.
