ACC VISITS SOUTHERN CROSS, PSMFC TO INVESTIGATE KAWANA’S CAR PURCHASE

By Staff Reporter

Investigations officers from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday visited Southern Cross Motors and the Public Service Micro Finance Company offices as part of the investigations into how Ministry of Information and Media media director Thabo Kawana purchased the P-Series vehicle for his wife.

Impeccable sources in the ACC have told Daily Revelation that the commission has taken

keen interest in the matter to understand the acquisition of the motor vehicle and
how the said loan was acquired to effect the transaction.

The sources
said the matter has caused uneasy in the government circles especially as they
seek to cast themselves as an anti-corruption administration.

“This is one
matter we have been looking into the very moment it surfaced into public
spaces,” said one official in the investigation body who did not want to be
mentioned. “Officials were actually dispatched yesterday to both Southern Cross
and Micro-Finance to look into the transaction and ensure the transaction is
above board. The work into the matter is still ongoing. Yes Mr Kawana has given
his own views including people from the Micro Finance and Southern Cross but
the commission is trying to establish its own facts.”

The Commission
had not yet responded to the query on this and other matters by press time.

Southern Cross
has told News Diggers that the brand new vehicle that Kawana bought for his
wife as a Christmas gift was bought at 34,000 United States Dollars, with
Public Service Micro Finance Company chief executive officer Mubanga Mwiko
saying that Kawana qualified for a loan car, like everyone else working in government.
