Stop comparing the UPND performance to that of the PF because Zambians already said they had enough of Edgar Lungu, says former Commerce minister Bob Sichinga.
Speaking with Daily Revelation, Sichinga said those in UPND should stop referring to the PF whenever issues over their performance was raised.
“Tapali imbwa yakutasha. I am saying what was wrong under Edgar Lungu is equally wrong under President HH if he does what is wrong. We can’t say that because HH has made this particular blunder therefore it justifies Mr Lungu’s mistakes. Mr Lungu made his own mistakes which we criticized him for. If Mr HH also makes mistakes we shall criticize him also,” Sichinga said. “In fact this basis of comparing UPND’s performance against PF is not even the right thing because the decision of the people of Zambia was that they had had enough of Lungu. They decided that they were going to change their captain. If the new captain does not perform to the expectations they will do the same thing. They will say ‘sorry, we thought you could do better than this’, because they wanted something better.”
Sichinga said Zambians decisively made their decision known on August 12, 2021, but added that at the time people were comparing a person who was in office against someone who had never been in office.
He said President Hichilema was learning lessons but the question that must be answered was if he was being genuine
“I don’t think the President would go out there and start power cuts if only to massage his ego. My own reading is he is learning the fast way but could have done a better job at verifying what his officials are giving him,” said Sichinga.
