There is a raging debate in the military over Police Inspector General Lemmy Kajoba’s use of stars on his official vehicle, as it is considered an illegality for him to do so in the military establishment.
Impeccable sources in the security wings have told Daily Revelation that what Kajoba is doing has never been done in the country since independence, particularly that the police service he is heading is civil and not military in nature.
“Are you aware of the serious debate which is going on among the military and security services regarding this illegal use of Stars on service by Police IG Mr Kajoba? The Stars go with military rank from Brigadier General to Field Marshall. There is no police equivalence, unless a military General is seconded to command position in the police or the police service is part of the Defence Force or in jurisdiction where the police force is structured as such, especially former Soviet states,” one of the senior military officials told Daily Revelation. “Otherwise this is a dangerous illegality which has never happened before since before independence.”
Kajoba is yet to respond to the press query and his views will be made known once he has responded.
Another official said if this were allowed, very soon people might be seeing the same happening with the heads in the prison service, immigration and even RATSA.
