CLAIMS OF ZNS OFFICERS TURNING DOWN BRIBES IS A HOAX MEANT TO DIVERT ATTENTION – DEFENCE FORCE SOURCES

By Staff Reporter

Defence forces sources have told Daily Revelation that the reported matter of ZNS officers turning down bribes of varying sums at designated check points, is a mere hoax and publicity stunt aimed at diverting attention from the many unfulfilled pledges made by the current ZNS command.

“If indeed there was any credibility with the now monotonous reports of ZNS officers refusing bribes, why are the alleged smugglers not paraded in front of cameras for the public to see for themselves?” a senior defence force source speaking on condition of anonymity wondered. “It’s nothing but a hoax because he has so far failed to live up to the many promises he made on being appointed.

“The ZNS commander told the whole world on the national broadcaster that ZNS Chanyanya would produce huge quantities of fish second only to Egypt on the entire African continent yet todate there is nothing to write home about. The highly publicised milling plants have you tried to ask him about the operating costs, as that is a closely guarded secret despite the fact that public funds are being spent? In fact we are yet to meet even the local demand of affordable mealie meal. It is baffling that against all these inadequacies, ZNS is going ahead to set up a company Eagle Holdings. Beside that we hope this establishment will be different as there seems an inclination towards filling up positions with SDA members where Lt Gen Solochi is an elder, like is happening at Makeni Garrison and Hq units where several civilian employees engaged under his administration are from the SDA Church.”

The sources insisted that the reported issues that keep cropping up every so often to do with ZNS officers refusing to accept this amount and that amount in bribes from alleged smugglers, is fake and a hoax intended to divert public attention.

“Some quarters have hinted that the fish project was actually government funded and the Gen was tasked to write a report when it became apparent that it was a flop more so with suspicion of how money has been spent,” said another senior officer on condition of anonymity.
