State House Chief Communications Specialist Clayson Hamasaka has challenged the opposition to name who will take over if President Hakainde Hichilema were to resign.
The several crisis the country is going through, including critical shortages in the staple food and the high prices of the same commodity, high fuel prices and the high cost of living has pushed especially some opposition leaders to call on President Hichilema to resign to save the country some civil strife.
But speaking with Daily Revelation, Hamasaka wondered who would come in if President Hichilema were to heed the calls to resign.
“If he resigns who comes in? If he resigns who comes in? … Yes, if they are saying HH and UPND resign, if he resigns who comes in? Is it the opposition?” Hamasaka asked.
Put to him that the question he was asking was something the opposition could answer for themselves, but asked specifically on the issues they are raising including the lack of liquidity in the market, shortages and skyrocketing prices in mealie meal and fuel and the high cost of living, among other issues, particularly as they go counter to what the President himself promised with his own mouth, Hamasaka urged against listening too much to the opposition but did not address himself to the issues, promising that he would do so once he had properly parked.
“Well, look if they want him to resign, let them do it the democratic way, but (it) does not mean if he resigns then they come into power,” said Hamasaka.
