Tourism minister Rodney Sikumba has thanked especially the local Zambian tourists who filled up the holiday spots around the country.
“Let me take this opportunity to thank and appreciate our tourists, especially the locals (Zambians) who “took a local holiday” during Easter. Reports reaching the ministry indicate that ALL known tourist spots across the country were ‘buzzing’,” the minister stated.
One of the responders, Jones Sambi congratulated Sikumba for the growth of the tourism industry under his tenure.
But David Kabwe urged Sikumba to work towards ensuring a reduction in local packages which he said were exhorbitant beyond the reach of local citizens.
Nyandi Luwawa supported Kabwe stating that it was not impressive that local tourists can’t afford to enjoy their own local amenities because of the high tourism packages.
