The Bank of Zambia says there is no grain of truth in assertions that Governor Dr Denny Kalyalya had resigned of threatened to resign because of outside interference.
Recently, Zambia’s former Ambassador to Ethiopia Emmanuel Mwamba wrote about assertions having been swirling that following the said take over of the Bank of Zambia Pension Trust Fund, by Africa Life Financial Services (ALFS) associated with President Hakainde Hichilema, rumours were swirling around that Dr Kalyalya had resigned over this decision and other repeated and pervasive interferences despite BoZ’s entrenched autonomy by law.
But BoZ assistant communications director Bernart Mwanza dismissed the assertions.
“It’s not true. Those are just rumours. At no point did Governor resign or even threatened to resign. We are actually not even sure how that story started. So there is no truth in it,” said Mwanza to Daily Revelation.
