Socialist Party Central Province secretary Jeliaty Ntembwa has said that the high cost of living will cost the UPND in 2026.

Ntembwa, who is immediate past Chitambo district commissioner, said that the UPND administration has a gigantic task of addressing the high cost of living.

He said that the skyrocketing mealie meal prices will not be reduced, as was pronounced by the UPND while in opposition.

“Historically in Zambia, the high cost of living has always been making a sitting government to lose power. In Zambia our staple food is mealie meal. So the continued high prices of maize meal and high cost of living will certainly lead to the downfall of the UPND,” Ntembwa said. “This is a huge task that
the UPND administration has. And this high cost of living is going to cost the UPND in 2026.”

Ntembwa, who is also former PF Central Province youth chairman, said that the UPND administration should pay attention to youths, who he said are the majority voters.

“This high youth unemployment levels can be addressed when a sitting government pays particular attention to the young people,” said Ntembwa.
