The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested and suspended its commission secretary Ivor Mukwankwa over abuse of authority of office.

Last week, Daily Revelation published a story where the ACC confirmed having found its own administrator Mukwanka wanting for abuse of authority, in the manner he had been managing the commission’s fleet of automobiles among others.

In response to a statement written by Daily Revelation, the ACC stated that it had been conducting internal assessments in various departments, including administration, where Mukwanka was head, and had established some areas of concern, which included the area of fleet management.

The commission also indicated that it was working towards resolving these challenges to ensure that the integrity of systems were not compromised.

And in a statement, the commission stated that Mukwanka was recently arrested by officers within the commission on two counts of abuse of authority of office contrary to section 21 (1) (b) of the Anti-Corruption Act No.3 of 2012.

“This is in a manner in which he acquired a commission vehicle for his personal use and benefit before authority was granted by the commission director general. Mr. Ivor Mukwanka has since been released on bond and will appear in court soon,” read the statement.

The commission further assured the public that it would continue fighting corruption regardless of one’s rank, position or affiliation.

The commission further stated that they would ensure that all their officers strictly adhered to core values and operational guidelines at all times.
