Information has emerged that the Anti-Corruption Commission has summoned Road Development Agency board chairman Engineer Mulchand Kuntawala and former National Road Fund Agency board chairman Joe Mutwale.
And Lumezi independent member of parliament Munir Zulu says Finance minister Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane and his Infrastructure counterpart Charles Milupi have been appearing secretly before the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for having received $250,000 each through a bank transfer from a named firm and that State House is aware of this, wondering why the fight against corruption should be done in secret.
ACC a few months ago refused at the time when responding to a Daily Revelation press query that there were no such investigations on their books.
“The former board chairman at National Road Fund Agency Mr Joe Mutwale and the current Road Development Agency board chairman Engineer Muchant Kuntawala have been summoned by the Anti-Corruption Commission for questioning. It’s like they have already been questioned,” said the source.
But when reached for a comment, Road Development Agency board chairman Mulchand Kuntawala rubbished the information, saying at no time has ever appeared before the ACC.
“No…! Who gave you that rubbish information? At no time have I been summoned. Have you been to ACC? Don’t get unverified information just to create news. Go back to your news sources. If they don’t give you verified information, put them to task,” said Kuntawala.
Anti-Corruption Commission head of public relations Timothy Moono said he was not aware that the two men have been summoned by the Commission, as he is unwell and out of office.
“I not aware of that. But I would suggest that your chief editor sends us a press query,” said Moono before referring further queries to another person in his department.
And Anti-Corruption Commission senior public relations officer Christopher Chibanku said that he can only issue a statement after verifying the information with the investigations department at ACC.
“I need to verify that information with our investigations department. In need to find out from the investigations team whether they have been summoned or not,” said Chibanku.
During a briefing, Lumezi member of parliament Zulu said Dr Musokotwane and Milupi initially avoided appearing before the ACC for questioning when call outs were sent to them.
He charged that the duo received $250,000 each from a named firm through a bank transfer and accused Kuntawala of having been involved in the transfer of funds two days before he was appointed board chairman.
When Daily Revelation questioned ACC over the said investigations several months ago, the commission refused that no such investigation was ongoing.
