An-18- year old boy of Chingola’s Mutenda area has been arrested for allegedly defiling his neighbor aged 12.
Reagan Kapalanga was arrested Monday for dragging a girl in his house and having unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
Copperbelt police commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba confirmed to daily Revelation yesterday that the incident happened on August 4, 2024 but the matter was reported the following day after the suspect’s and victim’s family failed to reach an agreement after negotiations.
Mweemba explained that on the fateful day, the girl was at home with her two young siblings when Kapalanga went and told her to follow him to his place so that he could tell her something.
He said when she refused, the suspect dragged her to his house, locked the door and forced himself on her.
“Chingola central police received a report of defilement, which was reported by a 40-year- old man who reported on behalf of his daughter that she has been defiled by a person well known to her. She was only rescued by her elder sister who was informed by the two siblings that that the victim has been locked up by Kapalanga,” he said.
Mweemba said the girl sustained virgina pains and general body painful.
“A medical report was issued and Kapalanga was arrested and he remained detained at Mutenda Police post.There is information that the suspect’s and victim’s families tried to negotiate and only made a formal report after they failed to reach an agreement,” said Mweemba.
