FDD leader Edith Nawakwi says she cannot be intimidated by Hakainde Hichilema whom she considers lesser in stature to late Dr Kenneth Kaunda and Frederick Chiluba.
And Nawakwi charged that United States of America Vice-President Kamala Harris is coming to Zambia to preach gay ‘right’ to a receptive audience in the UPND administration.
Speaking with Daily Revelation, Nawakwi said police have been searching for her and claiming she is hiding over “what they term as hate speech.”
She said without her being at her place of residence, police vehicles have been trying to force the call out on her guards who refused to receive the same, arguing that they knew where her lawyers were.
“Call the director CID, I don’t understand why even after being told by my workers that she is not around, they say if we come at 04:00 hours and we find her uzachiona (you will see). Is that the job of the police officer?” Nawakwi asked. “You are pretending there is democracy and that you will be holding a democracy conference. There is no democracy here.”
Nawakwi said she wants the police to explain to her why they were looking for her now when in 2021 she reported to the same people about the cyber bullying from UPND cadres, including providing them with the mobile numbers of the people who were involved.
“They are giving me free guard and they are saying I am hiding. I have never thought I can hide from Hakainde. I never hid from Dr Kenneth Kaunda. I never hid from Chiluba’s ruthless threats against me. This is why people complain that police are being used,” she said.
Nawakwi charged that President Hichilema was desperately trying to foist the United States of America on Zambians, to the extent that he even stopped his members of parliament from travelling to Russia for a parliamentary summit because “he is in bed with the Americans.”
She said no amount of intimidation will keep her quiet, charging that the recent induction of the Zambia Army Commander and the one from Botswana in the USA was on account that both countries hosted “American bases.”
She said the country needed to be told the truth on what Harris was coming to do in Zambia as the Americans have been a menace wherever they have gone, saying they were patronising Hichilema and other “gullible” leaders because they wanted something to serve their selfish interests.
Nawakwi said she did not even need to meet the Russian Ambassador or the Chinese Ambassador to assure them that President Hichilema was a lone figure pushing the west’s interests in Zambia, as the overwhelming majority appreciated the Non-Aligned position the country has held since independence.
“Every citizen on the African continent knows that Hakainde is a stooge of the west. Who would you rather have, someone who gives you a magnificent hospital like Levy Mwanawasa or someone who gives you bullets?” Nawakwi asked. “Former US president Obama killed our pan-Africanist brother Gadaffi. What is there is Libya now? Chaos. Look at Afghanistan. Chaos. Syria, Iraq. Chaos. These are people who don’t build. Their only interest is to sell bullets.”
Nawakwi said Harris was coming to celebrate a person who nullified seats on the Copperbelt and did everything, including using state institutions, to stop certain candidates from participating but claimed to be a democrat.
“Hakainde is a hardcore tin pot dictator,” said Nawakwi. “Harris is coming here to bring gay.”
