CHAMA ON SONG AS ZAMBIA EDGE MALAWI

Clatous Chama led by example on his debut yesterday as Chipolopolo captain with a goal and assist in Zanbia’s 2-1 win over hosts Malawi to finish third at the just ended Four-Nations friendly tournament at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

The win also saw Chipolopolo bounce back from their 6-5 post match penalty loss to Zimbabwe on Saturday after blowing away a two-nil lead to finish 2-2 at the same venue.

Chama was handed the captaincy yesterday after Stopilla Sunzu was rested by coach Avram Grant for the match.

Chama took just 17 minutes to put Zambia ahead from a free kick, which has awarded after Patson Daka was brought down on the edge of the box.

The midfielder from Simba SC in Tanzania then added an assist a minute later for Daka to double the lead.

Kebson Kamanga then had an opportunity in the 21st minute from outside the box saved.

It was all in a frenzy six minute spell after the opening goal that saw Malawi cut the deficit in the 23rd minute through Lawrence Chaziya when he headed in a Patrick Mwaungulu free kick that was misjudged by Toaster Nsabata.

Meanwhile, it was overall a good outing for Chama in particular who scored in back-to-back Chipolopolo games for the first time.
