Chinese man dies after being beaten

Unidentified Chinese national has died on the Copperbelt after allegedly being beaten during a drinking spree.

Copperbelt Police commanding officer Pathias Siandenge stated that the deceased allegedly died in Chingola but was rushed to Kitwe Central Hospital by his colleagues in a bid to save his life.

“An officer was called by hospital authorities at Kitwe Teaching Hospital to the effect that there was a B.I.D for a Chinese national who was brought in dead by fellow Chinese from Chingola,” he said. “The officer quickly rushed there and found the body of a Chinese national of middle age and upon making inquiries from the people that brought the body, it was established that the late Chinese and the Chinese that brought him stays in Chingola, and the deceased before his death he was fighting with his fellow Chinese after a drinking spree in Chingola.”

He stated that the victim’s friend opted to rush him to Kitwe without reporting the matter to Chingola Police Station but he died on the way after he succumbed to the injuries he sustained.

Siandenge stated that details of the deceased and his attacker remained scant as all the Chinese who brought the deceased were trying to play ignorant of the incident.
